Following an excellent beginning to the Auction year in February, the March sales event is set to follow suit with a fabulous offering of valuable and sought after articles ranging from substantial furniture to collectables and decorative arts. Marked by a fantastic collection of pottery and exquisite French Antiques, this month’s auction also features over 25 fantastic clocks including mantle and portico timepieces; ormolu, marble and porcelain examples, and several stunning art deco items.

Of particular note is a green onyx figural clock featuring prominent Arabic numerals and a recumbent golden bronze spelter gazelle on a long black marble base.

Setting a refined and luxurious tone, a set of Victorian sterling silver gilt claret jug and goblets is sure to impress. Created as a presentation piece to Surgeon Major Robert Lewer of the 9th Queen's Royal Lancers, Kabul, this exquisite ensemble is hallmarked on the neck and rims, and delightfully engraved with fern fronds.

March features a fine collection of porcelain including lovely tea bowls, a fascinating reticulated white porcelain comport and a large collection of table wares. Of great interest within this genre is a pair of aesthetic movement Royal Worcester vases with three curled snake handles, delightfully illustrated with colourful scenes of birds and waterlilies.

Bridging the gap between old world original and contemporary style is a wonderful tulipwood and marquetry commode from the Late 19th to early 20th centuries. Featuring a prominent bow front marble top and decorated with musical instruments and flora, this impressive piece is supported by poised tapering legs with gilt bronze mounts and sabots.

With over 400 wide ranging lots, the March decorative arts offering is an event not to be missed by collectors looking for valuable and unique items across many genres. Doors are open from 11am for registration, with the auction commencing at 12pm.
